She has four arms signifying the four components in learning; mind, intellect, alertness and ego. She holds a pestle in one hand and a rosary in the other. The rosary signifies concentration, meditation, and contemplation leading to salvation. She plays the veena, a musical instrument with her other two hands. The two hands denote the mind and intellect and is symbolic of the fact that the mind and intellect should be in tune with each other to achieve perfect harmony with the world.
