His earrings represent the inherent opposites in creation - knowledge and ignorance; happiness and unhappiness. Vishnu is seen holding a lotus, mace, conch and chakra(wheel). Vishnu’s divine vehicle is Garuda, the giant eagle. Garuda is depicted as possessing a human body and senses with a bird-like forehead, wings, beak and claws. Also called "Veda atma", Garuda is the Soul of the Vedas. The flapping of his wings symbolizes the power of the Divine Truth of Vedic wisdom.
