Ganapati is depicted, seated majestically on an ornate throne under the Prabhavali, playing his favourite musical instrument, the Veena. The Prabhavali is the beautiful arch that depicts creation, preservation and fiery dissolution with a fierce representation of Mahakala, the God of Time in the centre. The Veena is symbolic of cosmic music and rhythm and the statue portrays the Lord´s power to bring harmony through intellectual pursuits and musical accomplishments. Vinayaka holds an elephant goad in one hand denoting self-mastery while he grasps a noose in the other. The noose draws and binds the Lord to those who cherish Him. The Lord´s vehicle, the Rat sits in reverence at His feet symbolising the ability to tenaciously overcome obstacles.
